Meta (Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp), X/Twitter, TikTok - all of these are fascist mouthpieces. Consider any information you gain through them to be propaganda.

One of my biggest recent gripes is that I have to use WhatsApp for work. I have disconnected myself from all privately owned giant social media, but I can’t drop whatsapp because I’m required to use it for communication at work with students.

Facebook needs to be burned to the ground. I’ll let you decide if that means in a business or physical sense. It is a cancer consuming us from the inside out.

Zuck plans on running in 2028 after Trump. His hero he constantly tries to emulate, Augustus Caesar, didn’t run a company. He was an emperor.

This is probably due to people mass reporting these pages or profiles and them being automatically blocked or some shit. But yeah, @Yingwu@lemmy.dbzer0.com is right. It’s really a funny coincidence.

This will not happen, due to the end goal of what they want being directly against the constitution. And even if it did we would see a full reversal of power in the other direction. There is no way that they would be able to accomplish something like that without a full Civil War again, but this time I’d be even worse because instead of just fighting the South in the North you’d be fighting your neighbors cuz it’d be red versus blue.

I may be hitting the copium, but I feel like this will not happen. It feels like having influence over social media platforms is really powerful, but the Internet is still there. It’s easy to send or find information if you want to, much easier than before the Internet. It’s much easier for set up or use a new information outlet than it was to start a TV station or newspaper. I thought no retailers could beat Sears, until Walmart came. People protested Walmart saying if they don’t like your CD for political reasons, people just won’t buy it. No one can touch Walmart. Then came Amazon. I think social media platforms will be even more short-lived in their influence, especially considering how easy it is to “change the channel” or start a new “channel”.

The people in China, and to a lesser extent Russia, want to have a word with you about how the government can control the internet. It’s not happening year yet. I’m hopeful that people will just go around the censors to get the content they want. I’m concerned that when Tiktok shut off its service and some people wrongly thought the gov’t “blocked” the packets, many Americans were okay with that.

(Unrelated, but in order to have a newline appear in Lemmy, for some reason you need to have two carriage returns. Example:

line one, single carriage return line two

                line one, double carriage return

                line two)

I’ve always been curious if it would be worth someone setting up a movement of people that set up meta or Instagram account and then just go through in Mass report. Obviously they don’t pay for moderators so like eventually the system will autoflack the post and take it down.

Basically do the same thing that Facebook is doing to suppressors but to the opposing side.

I don’t use Facebook myself so I would never be able to do something like that but like surprised someone else hasn’t

There’s a thing that happens to people like Zuckerberg and Musk. They get a lot of hate (deserved, yes, but they don’t see it that way, and it’s probably true that they get plenty of undeserved hate too). Anyway they get used to the hate. It stops affecting them. But in this process they also develop a detached disdain for the public. They write off humanity. This same thing that allows them survive the hate also allows them to walk around like they know better and are better. It’s what sucks all compassion out of them. And then they behave like criminal overlords, because the can and honestly it’s the final “fuck you” they can give the world.

I’m not rendering any judgment here, like “we should stop hating on these guys.” No. I’m just saying I think this is part of how they get to be this way.
