The companies that turned our planet into a microplastic nightmare will surely regulate themselves bc market.

We need to organize, like yesterday, and fight to bring down these monsters.

Every single person Trump instilled as the head of a department is extremely unqualified and has the single goal of dismantling their department.

    Every single one.

You know what’s interesting about this is that it also shows that lead has a lasting effect. The initial 1:1 drop was probably people who had levels that were affecting them for a shorter amount of time (basically younger) and the remainder were older people.

What is the ratio now in 2024 vs 2011?

        • I couldn’t find a clean and easy graphic showing that, but a quick Google search for “lead poisoning crime rates” unearthed a few recent studies and articles, including a few on the NIH website. It really sucks how there’s a strong residual in the crime rates even when lead concentration drops. Really shows how permanent and contagious the damage really is. Pandora’s box is lined with lead.

He says that instead of regulating the environment with bureaucrats he is going to have partnerships with polluting industry business owners who will do what is in the public’s best interest at lower cost. Instead of using science, they are going to rely on talk show hosts, social media, religious leaders and other more reliable pundits. Scientists are geeks and can’t be trusted.

I’m old enough to remember American cities with large smog clouds hanging over them during the summer.

Looks like we’re actually stupid enough as a nation to bring that back.

    Loser country.

Lost me at “climate change religion”.

Look here, GOP. Deregulation does not have a great track record, and is as challenging to implement as the regulations you’re trying to skirt!

    Potential risks and challenges

    • Increased Risk of Misconduct: Reduced regulatory oversight may create additional opportunities for financial misconduct, requiring enhanced internal controls.
    • Compliance Complexity: Deregulation often leads to a more complex regulatory environment as institutions navigate evolving federal frameworks alongside increasingly divergent state obligations.
    • Product Innovation Risks: Periods of regulatory transition may encourage the development of products or services with limited regulatory guidance, potentially increasing future compliance exposure.
    • Uneven Oversight: Changes to regulatory structures, particularly regarding non-bank financial services providers, may create competitive imbalances and necessitate enhanced oversight of institutional partnerships.
    • Reputational Risk: Compliance failures in any regulatory environment can significantly damage an institution’s reputation and erode customer trust.
