    How do I do this? Is it explained in the user’s manual?

    @kdenlive @kde

    If youre wondering how to get KDEnlive to use yourself, its always included in most every linux distribution.

    And professional sound editor recording studio software, and 3D movie or game modeling.

    Vector drawing? Photo manipulation?

    Its all there, massive word processor, science and lab software?

    Free, ready to Install. Built with you safety, privacy and skills protected.

      I’m not sure why it would be included with a Linux distro by default

        It’s included in the default repository. Which means it’s included in the distribution.

          I interpreted it as being installed

          That makes more sense

          Only if you want to do video editing

          Also it isn’t preinstalled anywhere I know of

        @possiblylinux127

        And yet there it is.

        And On Mint they say:

        "Method #1: Installing via Software Manager

        The easiest way to install Kdenlive on Mint is leveraging the Software Manager app that comes built into Linux Mint 20‘s desktop.

        Another example:

          That’s not preinstalled

          You need to install it to use it. I think you are misunderstanding something.

      @kevinrns no, the correct way to get Kdenlive is by downloading the Appimage from the website or by getting the Flatpak version from Flathub. The only distro package that works properly is Archlinux, the rest and horrible and should be avoided for a pleasant editing experience.

        Its ok to do it your way, but it is not the correct way.

          @kevinrns @kdenlive @kde This is not about my way being “correct” or a “my distro is better than yours” situation. I am talking about something proven and technical. A simple example is, did you know you can’t edit in mp4 in Kdenlive in Fedora because they can’t package those codecs? Each distro has its own issues and peculiarities and you can’t expect to do serious video production work under any of those circumstances. So the general recommended way is to do what I said in my previous message.

            @frd @kdenlive @kde

            Sure. There are more distributions than there are users. More than cards in a deck. None correct.

      @kdenlive @kde Can anyone help me use this #SAM2 #ObjectDetection in #kdenlive I got stuck at the first hurdle!

      The plugin setting says it’s installed, but the Effect Stack still just shows a “Configure” button? This is on macOS… what am I missing?

    Fixed proxy clips workflow for videos with an alpha channel

    this is pretty cool, I wonder if they’ll eventually do proxies of sequences, like I had in my feature request here

      Except in this case the AI happens all on your computer, so no privacy leaks, big scale water or air polluting, no stealing from artists their work and livelihood… Just a tool that alleviates time and tedium, as it should be

    • KdenliveOP
      link
      fedilink

      @Randomgal

      The difference is we are not polluting waterways or the air, or making people unemployed, or infringing on artists’ livelihood.

      This all happens locally on your own computer.

      • @Randomgal@lemmy.ca

        fedilink

        You realize the only reason it doesn’t happen in your computer is because it already happened by then, right? They trained the model already so your computer doesn’t need all the energy. But the training did happen, and continues to happen, on stolen art, and you benefit from every time they update the software.

        Except you actually like this use, so you do the mental gymnastics to pretend it is not the same.
