It turns out that more technology in cars isnāt necessarily something customers want, and itās not really improving their driving experience. We know my thoughts on the matter, but Iāll do my best to stay impartial on this latest survey from JD Power that shows most customers donāt appreciate technology in cars unless they can see a clear benefit to them.
JD Powerās 2024 U.S. Tech Experience Index Study evaluated over 81,000 driversā experience with āadvanced vehicle technologiesā in 2024 model year vehicles after 90 days of ownership, It turned out to be a pretty mixed bag when it came to what people liked using. There are a number of tech features that customers like using because they feels that it answers their needs, but at the same time there is a whole lot that donāt get used very often or are continually annoying, according to the survey.

Nah, android auto or apple car play please.
Why not both?
I still wonder why new cars arenāt equipped with a dashcam by default. Itās probably because of privacy reasons, but still⦠The world would be a better place if every car was equipped with a dash cam.
I dig the idea too but at the same time there are privacy concerns, more than half the population wouldnāt know how to use 'em and Iām sure large groups of people would be pissed theyāre even there. And how long would it take to have regulations where theyāre wifi enabled and cops can subpoena dashcam info.
On the opposite side I genuinely believe you should get a break on your car insurance if you have a functioning dashcam.
Here in Denmark (maybe all EU, not sure) a dashcam has to be turned on manually. If it were to turn on automatically with the car, itād be illegal. Iām guessing laws across the world could be stopping such a rollout.
