VLANs go brrrrrr.
Seriously though, i can’t remember alphanumeric strings - something about IPv6 Adresses gives me nausea.
For me it’s being so used to NAT functioning as a firewall without me having to think about it.
DNS for the win ;)
DNS for the win ;)
I think this is the first time in recorded human history someone has said that phrase.
The most common phrase is “The problem was DNS”.
IPV6 has taken over the part of the world where it excels - backbone.
Of the companies I’ve worked for, even the enterprises (with thousands of desktops) the benefits of IP6 internally aren’t worth the effort and risk of transitioning.
Even new infrastructure (think entirely new buildings) would be IP4 because it integrates with their current workflow and methodologies.
Now when you talk about smaller places with perhaps a half dozen servers and less than 100 pc’s, there’s no incentive to use IP6, especially since you’re going to firewall everything, with zero inbound permitted for anything other than stuff in DMZ, or redirectors.
That is actually crazy
Very happy that LANs use ipv4 tho, even tho many also assign an ipv6 one for whatever reason
