Would anyone recomment an IP #camera that will work purely locally, with no cloud etc connections, available in EU (PL)? Most likely will be inside, though ones able to survive outdoors are appreciated as well. Ideally to be connected with #HomeAssistant and/or #Frigate (once I get around to setting that up 😅 ) #HomeAutomation

@viq @homeassistant@lemmy.world @homeassistant@fosstodon.org I’ve been quite pleased with Reolink cameras, which can work entirely locally (although be sure to check the home assistant documentation for the list of cameras that work—many but not all models are usable with HA). Personally I have multiple E1 Zooms and WiFi Doorbell cams, all operating fully locally.

A second vote for Reolink. They’re entirely adequate for most home scenarios.
Dahua are also very good if you can find them however they are aimed at professional installers. They cover almost every scenario imaginable and have good on device ai features. They do have their idiosyncrasies but do everything you could need and offer excellent lowlight performance for very little cost. There is also a very good home assistant integration.
You’ll find a lot of people tend to chose between Dahua and the more expensive Hikvision on cctvforums. You should be able to pick up a capable 4mp Dahua with tripwire detection for 60GBP. These cameras can (sometimes literally) see in the dark.
Avoid ESP32 Cams. They are very low frame rate and produce a very noisy image. They’re fun to tinker with but are nowhere near the quality of a real IPC.
Amrest = Rebranded Dahua mostly, they’re not much more money than Reolink too.
I’m using the Unify G3 Flex inside and outside of our summer house in Poland. It can be run local only if you don’t connect it to their cloud. It has a nice HomeAssistant integration too.

They have local streams and a local api for integration. I use them with BlueIris. I have about 11 cameras. You should be able to get them in EU.

@homeassistant@lemmy.world @homeassistant@fosstodon.org @neilI’m happy with Amcrest cameras (good video stream, accessible via web browser), my old Foscams also still work well. Just put them in a VLAN without Internet access to make sure they don’t phone home.
Just grab some old webcam, use an RPI with MotionEye and you are good to go. Bonus? With an non-IR RPI camera you’ll have “nightvision” and with MotionEye automatic gain control.
