I would hate it if I was just given a keyboard and told that this is all you can use, take it or leave it. I need the options.

It’ll probably have a one time fee option. The dev must know that not everyone will want to pay a subscription. I paid for removing ads on Sync for Reddit and I’ll happily do it again, so hopefully there will be an option of just removing ads. I don’t use either Lemmy or Reddit enough to justify paying a subscription, even though I really respect the dev.
I’ve had several phones under $200 over the years. One thing’s been common. The stuff that sucks is the stuff that’s not clear from the specs. It’s the fact that something or the other just doesn’t work that well. I’ve had bad proximity sensors, bad gps, rather poor ram management (still there on my more expensive Samsung). It’s not the chip or the cameras that bother me, it’s the stuff like the quality of the sensors, wifi, bluetooth etc. After my last $200 phone, I bought a Samsung galaxy s20 FE 1.5 years after it launched. Soooooo much better than anything I’ve had in terms of consistency and not letting me down on the daily. So my motto is going to be old flagship, rather than new mid-ranger. And if I can afford it, new flagship I guess.
Of course they have the choice. But be realistic. There is ALWAYS someone willing to do something for money. Not everyone thinks the same way as you do.
The next person would do it then. I don’t see that as a solution.
Fair enough, those are good points.
Weren’t the specs of the fairphone 4 pretty awful for the price?
I switch between 60Hz and 120Hz pretty often. And while I do notice a huge difference, it’s not for long and I get used to it.
I’m sure some people hover between them. The only reason I still go on reddit sometimes is that Infinity is still working. I think it would go to almost 0 if I genuinely had to use the official app.
Huh, it works just fine for me. I have Samsung galaxy buds 2 pro. I don’t use it with my laptop often, but it’s seamless when I do.
So dramatic lol
I don’t understand your annoyance. I would 100% be ok with my reaction being on the internet if my living situation gets a 1000 times better lol, and I’m pretty sure all the people in the videos feel the same way. You seem to have some Vendetta against this guy.
Is that because of a technical definition? I thought he does do a load of good for people. Regardless of whether he also profits from it. Isn’t that sort of a win-win? More reason to give back for him as well. But I don’t watch his videos and don’t know the fine details.
Isn’t it users that voluntarily tried to use the app? Instagram still has far more downloads. Almost everyone I follow on Instagram seems to have also given it a try at least once. I tried it and realised platforms of that style aren’t for me anyway (never cared for twitter either).
It’s because even children can be scarily good at specific things. I have a cousin (she’s a child) and has a YouTube channel, knows her way around content creation to a basic extent but absolutely can’t print a document or use MS Word. She was good at using phones when she was a toddler. So she got really good at the things she cared about and didn’t bother with the rest. The older generation didn’t have stuff like this to begin with, so of course they would take longer to learn stuff than a person who lives with it and around it from the time they were born.
Oh PWAs take more battery?
That would definitely be disappointing
But not everyone does right? I feel like you have to be a fairly big/popular channel to have sponsors. I’m pretty sure smaller channels can only depend on ad revenue.
