I am stalking you.
Canadians: First time?
I use Session because it doesn’t require a phone number.
How much of a PIA is it to install Linux on a Chromebook? I’m looking for a small laptop and Chromebooks are the perfect size.
Anyone remember download accelerator plus? I’d download stuff at night while everyone was asleep, then pause DAP/disconnect from the Internet in the morning. Rinse and repeat.
Same here. Mandrake 8.2 was a buggy mess, but I have fond memories of it.
A solution would be to create a proxy app of some kind. As for the poor working class guy thing, I feel you man. Things ain’t getting easier.
The Taliban should spin up their own Mastodon instance.
Even if it’s Chinese spyware, how would they ban it? You can always install the apk from a third-party source if you’re on Android.
I have been using a flip phone since 2017, but I’m considering switching to VOIP since I don’t use my phone much anyway.
You’re absolutely right. I come to Lemmy maybe once or twice a day. Reddit? Every hour. I really want to stop going to Reddit, but man is it hard.
Emacs user eh? A man (or woman) of culture I see. and great screenshot!
I use rtorrent and it’s pretty straightforward.
Anyone use Session messenger? It doesn’t need a phone number unlike Signal.
As an old fart, I’m happy to see that Debian is still cool. All of this arch-manjaro-nix-os-awesome-bspwm-i3-xmonad-flatsnap whippersnapper stuff is over my head.
My media library over SSHFS. The server runs Debian 11 and the client is an old Linux Mint laptop in my basement hooked up to a TV. The laptop only has access to my local network.
I rsync my entire library with an sdcard every week. The initial sync is slow, but the subsequent syncs are fast since only new files get copied over.
I back up my home folder to an encrypted drive once a week using rsync, then I create a tarball, encrypt it, and upload it to protondrive just in case.
I use Debian with a patched version of motif window manager. The 90s never ended:
Congrats!
