Almost 10 percent of the entire planet’s GDP isn’t that much.
Almost 10 percent of the entire planet’s GDP isn’t that much.
I wasn’t debating you, I don’t disagree with anything you said. You posted a thought provoking comment and I shared my thoughts.
Oh boy, I’m high and feeling chatty. Bag of wind incoming:
Progressives do want better, but the moderate faction, who don’t post on Lemmy, is much larger and they think genocide is keen. If all the progressives unimously said we won’t vote for a Democrat that supplies Isreal, it might not have even had an effect on her platform, we’d just get Trump. The moderates have more money and REALLY support genocide.
That said, using the slippery slope of Tea Party all the way to Trump has been an excuse that has now turned the moderate democrats much more conservative. The border is going to be a horror show under her. It’s a complex situation and progressives are a smaller (but growing) group. The best thing to do is keep swelling our numbers and voting. We still have to compromise with our liberal Democrat allies, but they still recognize they’d lose without us, so they are throwing progressives a few more bones every year. We are getting more candidates elected in lower positions, where the power to change really lies.
Going from America today to the good kind of socialist state will be gradual and take generations. We have to play ball while being vocal and voting in big numbers. It has to evolve from capitalism, like we see in many other western wealthy countries. Tankies want it now, with violence to take and violence to hold. Families executed en masse to keep power for which they have no mandate. You’re really gonna wanna get that public support if you don’t want a warlord dictator in charge.
MrBeast is being revealed as who he always was underneath the veneer.
What?! Ha ha, what is cheating in an online comment? Things aren’t "supposed to"ing like you want so its cheating? Cheating means breaking rules. Are saying adhering to some kind of rules or regulations would make our conversations more productive?
No one has ever dealt with people before, it’s certainly not something everyone does every day, you are the only one. You clearly have an advantage over every one else. And businesses work exactly like wet wood, it’s a flawless analogy.
I wasted so much time speaking with politicians, learning about economics, sociology, law, civics, and history, and all I needed to do was have experiences with people and I’d be a political genius too. I mean here I am, almost 40 years old, having spent my entire working career and off time dealing with people, but that doesn’t count. None of it counts but yours.
When I look around now vs years ago and see how deregulation is the cause of for almost all of our modern woes, I am left to agree with you, the solution must be even more delegation. Unmitigated greed by earth’s most ruthless people has always heralded a golden age of universal prosperity. Just look at the industrial revolution and the 20s. Children working and dying in factories and mines again is a sign of good things, but society can only succeed if we can sell these kids hard, addictive drugs without legal interference.
Edit: Libertarians aren’t hated, they are laughed at. Its the ultimate indicator your political opinions are nonsense, just like your comments in defense of it have demonstrated. It’s entirely based on what you think should happen, not was does happen. The advantage of living among people is the strength and prosperity that comes from cooperation and pooled resources. But that’s not the opinion the rich people who would enslave you paid good money for you to have.
Inb4 “fool blocked” as a response to your cognitive dissonance.
“I’m libertarian” followed by an assumption like businesses are “supposed to” do anything except make money and bump their stock prices by any means necessary. Yep, checks out.
Businesses are horribly inefficient due to their short term thinking. Efficiency is a marshmallow test. Doing things right in hopes of making $150 tomorrow will always be tossed out in favout of a garunteed $100 right now, doing it fast and dirty. The idea that businesses are naturally incentivized to do x because of market forces is bullshit if x is anything other than whatever makes the most money right now.
They send our natural resources to the other side of the world so slaves can turn them into goods that they ship right back to us. Efficiency is an expense that businesses are often incentivized to avoid when doing it wrong is cheaper.
If you want businesses to do anything but chase short term profits as ruthlessly as they can get away with, you need regulations.
We have those MAID pods in Canada, why not just buy a few of them? Not cruel enough?
Yes, people don’t realize that so much of what was used to charge the others came from her. She was the CEO and is smart. She knew everything and gave it all up. This all would have had a very different outcome without her contribution. Whether it’s genuine remorse or pure self-preservation doesn’t matter. Her contribution was the center tent pole of it all.
She was given extreme leniency because she was the main cooperator with police. There would be no FTX case wihout her. She seemed relieved when it all got cracked open and she seemed remorseful in her interviews and testimonies. So she at least demonstrated remorse enough to convince the police and the court. Whether it’s genuine remorse or alligator tears doesn’t matter as much as her contribution to getting the bigger fish caught, though. Rewarding cooperators an essential piece of the justice machine.
There’s a well established tradition of hand-me-down furniture being put out in alleys in East Vancouver. When you move and have no furniture, you can just tour the alleys and come away with a coffee table and a sofa or a couple of chairs. Did it a few times. You gotta know how to check for bed bugs though.
“The survey was conducted using KnowledgePanel, the largest and most well-established online probability-based panel that is representative of the adult U.S. population. Our recruitment process employs a scientifically developed addressed-based sampling methodology using the latest Delivery Sequence File of the USPS – a database with full coverage of all delivery points in the U.S. Households invited to join the panel are randomly selected from all available households in the U.S. Persons in the sampled households are invited to join and participate in the panel. Those selected who do not already have internet access are provided a tablet and internet connection at no cost to the panel member. Those who join the panel and who are selected to participate in a survey are sent a unique password-protected log-in used to complete surveys online. As a result of our recruitment and sampling methodologies, samples from KnowledgePanel cover all households regardless of their phone or internet status and findings can be reported with a margin of sampling error and projected to the general population.”
Very yes. They could reveal their location for starters, which could spoil a mission and put lives at risk, but if they use the same device on both this and the ships network, you risk compromising the ship’s network or even the Navy itself, giving our enemies all kinds of sensitive info.
We are in the midst of a world war being waged in cyberspace and the US is losing. Incidents like this are a genuine threat.
This is not a mental illness. That’s the Fox News scapegoat, not an actual reason. This is just complete ignorance of gun danger in a country that celebrates giving out firearms like candy without any kind of training or licensing requirements. This is a dangerous lack of gun laws and an ignorant gun owner. Here in Canada, we have lots of guns but a far lower rate of accidents and murders. Pistols are restricted, which means the only places you’re allowed to ever have a pistol is locked in your home, at the gun range, or at the gunsmith, or locked in truck on a direct route between those locations. You aren’t allowed to keep ammo in the same container as the gun, never mind keeping one actually loaded. You know all of this because you had to take a safety course and pass a written and practical exam before you are allowed to own even a .22. The restricted license is yet another course and set of exams.
This is the fault of the laws of the land and the mother’s ignorance. Don’t bring mental illness into it, that’s ablist bullshit.
I agree, but with a caveat. Pirate things from people who publicly espouse shitty views. Purchasing it is justifying it. JK Rowling has explicitly said she feels more empowered to be awful because people keep buying Harry Potter stuff.
I loose weight by eating 2 big meals a day. My go to seems to be frozen pizza (1000 cal each) and and curries (500-600 for curry, another 200 for my naan in butter). I eat 1600-1800 calories a day and feel like a glutton while my scale keeps going in the right direction. 50lbs down so far.
Taking other people’s creative works to create your own for-profit product is illegal in every way except when AI does it. AI is not a person watching videos. AI is a product using others’ content as its bricks and mortar. Thousands of hours of work on a project you completed being used by someone else to turn a profit, maybe even used in some way you vehemently disagree with, without giving you a dime is unethical and needs regulation from that perspective.
Pimp my Brain: I hear you like anxiety, so put some anxiety in your anxiety.
The Western New England accent is very different from your classic Foggettaboudit east coast accent. Unless you’re an academic linguistics researchers, it’s basically the same as American standard. He was luckily born into his accent.
