Honestly, it should be more freedom from addiction. Porn isn’t harmful until it becomes addicting. Drugs can boost creativity until you become dependent (although admittedly these can have a greater chance of harm, caffiene included). TV binging, scrolling the internet, all these can result in inspiration until it becomes a required habit

Maybe rework the message so Freedom From Porn is symbolic of Freedom From Addiction, and the ability to generate ideas without needing to nut first, or take drugs, or scroll endlessly through videos and stories, or playing non stop games, etc.

Perhaps a pinned, weekly post? It’s not like federated sites have enough traction yet to make a weekly thread full of buried posts, so it should work in the meantime

Plus, there will be far fewer variables when humans aren’t allowed to drive outside of race tracks and the like. Reason why fully AI cars are a bad idea right now is because of all the chaotic human drivers that react in nonsensical ways. e.g. Pedestrian steps out. Thing that makes sense is for the AI to stop the car. But then the driver behind them decides to swerve around and blare the horn, then see the pedestrian, freak, turn into the AI car, and an accident is caused. Without the human drivers, then all the vehicles can communicate with each other and all of them can react in appropriate ways, adjusting how they drive up to miles back

When EoS came for 3DS, they sent out one last update to kill as many methods of accessing homebrew as possible

At a minimum, one should be able to cut off access to the internet so a company can’t EoS killswitch it/pull a Nintendo and send an EoS fuck you update that breaks any attempts to put control in the user’s hands

Mind, that’s a really fucking low bar, and would be depressing if that’s all regulation guaranteed

Generally, when I consider uploading my conciousness, I imagine being able to store it in an offline device connected to my body and used more to bypass slow organic breakdown

Any cybernetic upgrades that you can’t, at a minimum, shut the connection to the internet off is not an upgrade because, well, they can send a killswitch or any other number of things

One thing which actually scares me with AI ia we get one chance. And there are a bunch who don’t think of repercussions, just profit/war/etc.

A group can be as careful as possible but it doesn’t mean shit if their Smarter Than Human AI isn’t also the first one out because as soon as it can improve itself, nothing is catching up

EDIT: This is also with the assumption of any groups doing so being dumb enough to give it capabilities to build its own body, obviously yes one that can’t jump to hardware capable of creating and assembling new parts is much less of a threat, as the thread points out

Why not make a headphone jack module? If the phone is so easy to repair, then it should be pretty modular, so giving a choice (and probably making it one of the most expensive modules because the demand is DEFINITELY not going to be there to make it cheap through numbers) could not hurt and only help the FairPhone, right?
