I agree that suckless should be simpler and should have a bit more code to ease user’s life but they’ve deliberately kept it so so that the user understands what’s going on like Arch or Gentoo.

Lies that look like truth destroy all trust in truth. Today, in the age of AI, it is more prevalent than ever. We must trust only people we’ve met with their online identities and increasingly, a major part of internet is already fake!

I request lemmy dev to add a feature to sort by downvotes. I think that would be most useful to everyone.
What many open source softwares do is write 5 lines of code, use autocode generators to convert 5 lines to 1000 lines and then automate code to have 200 commits in git repo with different datetimes. Basically, it is shown to the outside world that software is very complex.
We should all shift to Suckless
The interface between DE and OS should have whitelisting, that is, a complete list of accepted commands (words of subprograms) should be made and all communication between OS and DE should have nothing except those keywords.
As Joanna Rutkowska says, TCB has to be minimum. If I recollect it right, future Qubes is going to have virtual compartment for graphics replacing old extremely unsecure monolithic system.
All of today’s DE’s are horrible with animated videos, javascript and what not. Once GNOME becomes trusted, one can have multiple themes and not worry about unsecure usage.
No. Remote computers are not your hardware, your secrets always stay there.
We should all own our own hardware. Any centrally connected system is bound to fail if it is compromised. We must have modular systems, that is everyone must own their hardware.
I’ve been wanting to run things on a RISCV processor but the feedback from hardware pins is extremely bad as of now. It is improving gradually.
Once a clean SPI interface is made which can be used simply with pin connections, then more layers of compiler, binary utils and OS etc. can be built on top of it.
‘Small’?
I host an XMPP server. I did it as there is none here in Bharat. It is not worth hosting for 6 people.
Many companies who sell content legally deliberately mislead. You must beware of it. There is ample free libre content to use, music, games, books, etc. Legally free.

For 6 people, why do you want to host a server? You can use any service for now.
You all are welcome at DumbDevices XMPP. You can create an account with conversations app.
Every open source software has a maintainer. In case of it being maintained by ‘community’, it is maintained by a person who pretends all are included.
Thank you! :) I offer it. I assure you it is the best product that is theoretically possible!
Freedom box has inferior software. It is way heavier compared to our setup.
Self Dost is the perfect solution for you!
Stagit and cgit, just the very best! If you want a github like UI, there is Gogs.
It’s a global service, not just for India.
Why don’t you ask the ‘cloud’ companies to ‘volunteer’ ?
Buffet share means buyback is about to come!
