Hi m8, do you know what would be a good option for like an android box or roku or whatever for tv? I have a semi smart lg tv that sucks ass and i whant to connect it to something like that, but i whant a tv box that can get open source stuff or at least is conpatible with something like youtube revance.

I’ve been using revanced on android and have got no problems with youtubes enshitiication anthics, it even has sponsorblock for skipping sponsor in videos, it plays in the background in a small window while i browse lemmy. Only set back might be that its a little hard to install, since you need the patcher, a manager called micro g, and a very specific version of youtube that cannot be get from the playstore and the patcing is a little more complex that it should, but its worth every second of it once its done.

No ofence but if thats your pov on the situation (a very valid one btw) you would be better of subscribing to youtube premium. You suport them directly, and dont really get the short end of the stick on mobile like evryone else that isnt paying or isnt a power user. They still colect your data incluiding browsing and watching habits, but you wont get bombarded with terrible ads and get some nice perks as a plus.

On android you should try to go with youtube revanced, its a little tedious and time consuming to install but it is worth every single second.
