If we had an option to hide image/text/link based posts from our browse selection, especially ‘all’, then I think we would be able to find them by accident much more easily.

It’s a standard propaganda technique. Beware any group that has a phrase about what they claim to be. If you are something, you don’t need to announce it. e.g. Jehovah’s witnesses call their dogma “the truth”
Please no. :(
The CEO role is mostly about doing what you are told by shareholders. Last thing you want to do is remove the final limitations of a conscience from the position. An AI for ceo’ing will be optimised to be evil. More evil than the average psychopathic/narcissistic/Machiavellian CEO.
edit: Downvoters might wanna learn to read more thoroughly. I’m saying CEOs have almost no conscience. I’m not saying they have more than a narc/psycho/machi level of conscience, I’m saying they have a tiny tiny scrap of it(rarely), which the AI will not have.
You are the best of many bots in this thread, thank you
Why hasn’t the there been an announcement when we repeatedly ask for confirmation? If he signed the NDA then they legally cant talk, and that seems to be happening now.
You don’t seem to be aware of the meaning of that link. If people got approached to sign a contract to not be legally allowed to talk about the contract or meeting, then its very strong evidence that lemmy.world admins have signed the agreement.
OPs claims are logical. I don’t care about the anecdote of someone dobbing someone in, just the hard logic that NDA signers can’t talk about it legally.
If you have a signed NDA contract then technically you are controlled by that contract. You could say if any admin signs it, then that admin is controlled by meta. If the head admin signed it, then lemmy.world would be controlled by meta in a legal sense. Not fully controlled, just contractually controlled in part(or secretly full and they wouldn’t be allowed to say).
Just so you know, these things play out in micro steps where people are never outraged enough to take meaningful action. You can drag out a takeover to take decades if you want.
The only point that matters is meta is evil, anyone that has any voluntary meaningful interaction with them is complicit, we should shun the complicit or we become complicit.(within reason and civilly of course)
People aren’t noticing that they could just release a new app or mode for threads that’s Lemmy like and take our community info as their starting seed data. Tada! They also killed Reddit with the same move that killed twitter. I think meta would want to destroy this style of program more then copy though, so I’m not convinced they will copy a Lemmy app.
I think this should be a cultural change and not a hard-coded one. I would like no more than a third of users on any instance for resistance to hacks and corruption etc.
I agree. I’d like to see at minimum downvotes hidden for 1 hour on comments.
I think they are adding that eventually if it’s not already implemented.
I wonder if it’s possible to have communities that are read only to outsider instances or fully private to be seen only by the host instance?
Another of those rare times I don’t expect to laugh in a thread.
Trippy. I was just tempted to make a post asking about how hard it would be in rust to make a program with high end security and privacy. I decided not to, but then starting to wonder if memory could be put onto the swap file and then edited, and they this post showed up. I thought clearly, without a doubt they would make the swap system near perfect and i shouldn’t worry about that. haha
Generic moderators on lemmy can also delete comments without us getting an alert or information about who did it. Hard to challenge things like this, but at least we can check the modlog. You would only know its deleted because you check the thread where you posted it(unless I’m mistaken).
“The internet is for porn”
He was right until he said that point. I think he killed the primary message with the add-on sentence.
Very well said.
Exactly! Almost every time I’ve tried to talk with people they only bring up those same technical aspects and ignore the other aspects, like cultural destruction and manufactured outrage and hatred against LGBTQs etc that comes with meta/facebook. The whole internet doesn’t need to be a homogenized mess :(
Political and business maneuvers will catch IT focused security people by surprise. They are fish in a barrel
Sometimes silence is deafening. If Ruud signed an NDA would he be able to say that he didn’t sign an NDA? We could strongly request that he states he has no contracts or agreements with facebook/meta. But deep down we know the answer.
WHAAT? I CANT HEAR YOU OVER THE MEEEEEMEES!!. SPEAK LOUDEERRR!
