Summary

Trump’s trade wars and tariffs are hitting his own voters the hardest, with retaliatory levies from China, Canada, and Europe targeting industries in Trump-supporting states.

A New York Times analysis found that nearly 8 million Americans, mostly Trump voters, work in affected sectors like farming, steel, and manufacturing.

While some remain loyal, others are voicing frustration over job losses and economic strain. States like Kentucky, Wisconsin, and Indiana are particularly vulnerable.

Cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security could further impact Trump’s base.

I’m so worried about the fascism that I can hardly bother to worry about the economic consequences.

    • Honestly I’m hoping the economic consequences are so severe that it cripples fascism. Basically if everyone’s unemployed and angry the ability to control folks becomes questionable at best.

I don’t know… The fascists are much better at controlling the narrative, the most likely and by far the scariest scenario is that they find a scapegoat somewhere and unleash the unruly mobs on them.

        • Folks are just as likely to go after those in power, also we are talking about Americans here. The Feds have been a boogie man for decades it’s entirely possible that the fascists lose control because they can’t hold the narrative to protect Trump and the centralization of power.

Remember Trump didn’t gain more voters between 2020 and 2024, he has reached market saturation for voters. I suspect that that is true for total support as well.

This is where my fears are turning. I had ‘hoped’ things would get so bad we’d have mass revolts. I’m not sure anymore, starting to put together an exit plan, we’ll have a much better idea come this summer.

Don’t wait. Organize. Be the catalyst.

Yeah, up to a point. They have the initiative now, but there’s nothing inevitable about that continuing indefinitely. If all us non-fascists refused to comply in advance, we could rapidly exhaust them and start driving events that they cannot control.
