  • The problem with fosselize is that it’s currently bugged, and happens to precompile way more things than are needed, such as all workshop content that you might not have installed which takes a really long time + bloats up the shader cache in size. On anything that’s not low-end, it’s pretty much a waste of time since shader compilation is easily done on runtime.

Some issues on the things I’ve mentioned that Valve hasn’t seem to have responded yet: bloat, time

  • Just as a PSA, the feature is currently somewhat bugged and really should be avoided. For anything that’s not a low-end PC, your machine can handle the compilation during runtime easily and do it much faster.

For low-ends, it compiles so many unnecessary shaders (such as all workshop content that you might not even have), it often takes 10x longer to compile everything (which you have to recompile on every driver or game cache update) than just playing the game and watching a replay first or something.

  • The resolutions are not likely to pass; even if they did pass the heavily pro-Israel Congress, they would likely be vetoed by President Joe Biden, who has been insistent on sending weapons to Israel with no strings attached.

Yeah, this is an absolute shame. He tried doing something similar shortly after the genocide had started, but everyone else currently in power just shut him down almost unanimously.

If politics and getting into power wasn’t 90% based on your wealth and connections, maybe US could have more people like Bernie trying to actually do good rather than trying to enrich or empower themselves.

  • Good, but why now? For years, Google has been way more dominant both practically and culturally until very recently, and only now after they stumbled hard with their AI venture, Bing catching up, and their public opinion dropping do they decide to break the company up.

Does this mean that a monopoly is good as long as it’s successful, but once it starts stumbling and outlives its use that’s when the government is gonna do something about it?

  • I don’t think racism itself is enough for Trump and far-right to succeed, which is precisely why they’ve combined it with populism and working class rhetoric. Of course, there’s still racism like how muslims are being portrayed as violent beasts as opposed to culture white christians, but a lot of it is also things like “immigrants are taking away money from welfare thats why you live bad” or “immigrants are taking our jobs” or “jews control everything and steal from workers” and so on, you know what they say.

Like any good right-wing propaganda, there is a grain of truth in those statements, and it’s that economic reality of working class is shit - wages are stagnant, exploitation is rampant and just pure stress when it comes to finances. I do believe that if people’s needs are met then the racist rhetoric would lose a lot of its power and people will just stop caring as much as they do right now, but that’s very unlikely without any radical action.

  • Same as you, I was somewhat already leaning towards Linux but seeing Windows 10 EOL announced around 3 years ago and seeing what new “features” are going to be implemented to Windows 11, I decided to hop ship.

The main reason for switch was privacy concerns, got redpilled by Mental Outlaw while he was still making regular Linux videos.
